Your haalaan eSIM is an international roaming service, so data roaming must be on for the haalaan line. You will not be charged extra for that. Data comes from the prepaid plan.
At the same time, turn data roaming off on your US line.
iPhone
- Settings > Cellular.
- Tap haalaan China > turn on Data Roaming.
- Go back and tap Cellular Data > choose haalaan China.
- Tap your US line > turn off Data Roaming.
- Optional: turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching so the phone does not jump back to your US line for data.
Android
Menus vary. Look for:
- Settings > Network & internet > SIMs (Pixel) or Settings > Connections > SIM manager (Samsung).
- Tap haalaan China > turn on Roaming.
- Set Mobile data to haalaan China.
- Tap your US SIM > turn off Roaming.
- Optional: turn off Auto data switch (or a similar switch).
Keeping your US number for texts
Leave your US line on to receive texts and verification codes. With its data roaming off, it will not use its data plan. Your US carrier may still charge for calls or texts abroad. Check with them.
