Does my phone support eSIM?
A browser can't tell if a phone supports eSIM. Use the steps on the phone, then find the model in the list.
On an iPhone
- Settings › General › About. Look for Digital SIM or an EID.
- Or dial *#06# and look for an EID.
On an Android phone
- Settings › Network or Connections › SIM manager. Look for Add eSIM.
- Or dial *#06# and look for an EID.
On a computer
A computer can't install an eSIM. Check the phone you will take to China.
The phone also has to be carrier-unlocked. A phone on a carrier payment plan can stay locked until that carrier unlocks it. On iPhone, Settings › General › About › Carrier Lock should say No SIM restrictions. A locked phone can refuse an eSIM even when the model supports one.
iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau generally lack eSIM.
What the check means
- Yes, you're good. You see an EID, or Add eSIM, and the phone is carrier-unlocked.
- Not supported. There is no EID, or the model is marked not supported on the list.
- Not sure → contact support@haalaan.com (24/7).
iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau generally lack eSIM. Dial *#06# and look for an EID if you are not sure which market the phone is from.
Some carrier versions differ. Look for an EID, or for Add eSIM in SIM manager.
Some carrier versions of the Galaxy S20 do not include eSIM. If there is no EID, the phone is not supported.
Only some Galaxy A models include eSIM. Look for an EID or Add eSIM.
Other brands vary. An EID, or Add eSIM in the phone settings, is the check that matters.
