To use a haalaan eSIM, your phone needs to be eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked.
Quick check
- Dial *#06#. If you see an EID, your phone supports eSIM.
- iPhone: Settings > General > About. An EID means eSIM support. Under Carrier Lock, look for No SIM restrictions.
- Android: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs, or Connections > SIM manager. An option to add an eSIM means the phone supports it.
Phones that usually support eSIM
There is no single list that stays complete, so use the checks above. In general:
- iPhone: iPhone XR, XS, and newer, including iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). iPhone 14 and later models sold in the US are eSIM-only.
- Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy: many recent models. Some carrier versions of older phones do not support eSIM.
- Phones bought in mainland China often do not support eSIM.
One-tap install needs iOS 17.4 or later, or Android 10 or later. Older versions can still use the QR code.
